The Actors' Temple & The Actors' Chapel Trip to see the Tabernacle of the Israelites And the Mennonite Community In Lancaster, PA
The Biblical tabernacle reproduction was created in the late 1940's as the "Moses Tabernacle in the Wilderness," by a Baptist minister in St. Petersburg, Florida. Mennonites later purchased the replica and eventually joined it with the Mennonite Information Center.

Itinerary for Thursday, May 15th:

  • 9 AM: Board a private bus from The Actors' Temple, 339 West 47th Street Rabbi Jill Hausman and Father Richard Baker will accompany the trip.
  • 12 Noon: Arrive at the Mennonite Information Center, Lancaster, PA
  • 12:00-2 PM: Tour the replica of the Biblical Tabernacle. See the 3 screen feature film, "Who Are the Amish?" and another short film about the faith and life of the Mennonites and Amish
  • 2-5 PM: Experience the Amish Country with a guide on your own bus, explaining Amish and Mennonite faith, life, and culture. Stop along the way to visit Amish and Mennonite owned farms, stores, and shops, which may include these options: Mennonite and Amish farms, Amish bake shop, An Amish cemetery, A Mennonite church, One-room Amish schools, Windmills, Water wheels, The village of Intercourse, The Candle Barn, Farmers' markets, Covered bridges, Amish quilts, Historical sites, Old grist mills, Amish furniture makers.
  • 5 PM: Return to the Information center for time to browse in the gift shop.
  • 5:30 PM: Dinner at Plain & Fancy - a nearby Pennsylvania Dutch Smorgasbord
  • 7-10 PM: Return to Manhattan, educated, well fed, and inspired

Cost of Trip: $87 - includes: Bus transportation from Manhattan, All admission fees, Guided tours, and Dinner (tax, beverages, dessert, and tip included)
